Hirono Ads Hits Mainland Chamber, ‘Desperate’ Lingle

A new commercial from Mazie Hirono attempts to remind voters that Hawaii is different from the mainland, and that tactics that might work there don’t work in the islands.

The ad comes in response to spending by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on behalf of Hirono’s Republican opponent, Linda Lingle. It went up on YouTube today. Watch it:

Here’s the transcript:

What they brought to our islands is shameful. The mainland U.S. Chamber that’s endorsed Linda Lingle. News media call the Chamber’s president “Obama’s tormentor.” With over a million dollars in ads, now totally negative. Absurdly false. And hurling insults like “crazy” at our trusted Mazie Hirono. The mainland U.S. Chamber that Lingle says, “I’m very proud has focused on my race.” Republican Linda Lingle: it’s desperate, it’s low and Hawaii says no.
