Another incremental update on the HUD-reviewing-ORI’s-use front. Short version: We still need more time.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development was sent the city’s quarterly monitoring report on the troubled Wahiawa senior center back on July 31.
In early September, HUD told DC808 it needed a few more weeks to respond. A few weeks later, HUD said it needed three more weeks. Thursday was three weeks later, and the answer has changed, slightly. Now HUD says I should circle back in six weeks.
“Mike, after checking with our Honolulu office it is clear that the technical details with this issue require additional time in preparing the response to the City,” HUD spokeswoman Gene Gibson said in an email Thursday. “As I said to you in my last message, it is incumbent upon HUD to perform its due diligence and utilize the time it needs to complete the letter. It is impossible, at this time, to tell you when our response will be ready to send to the City. Please check back with me at the end of November. I hope you understand and I very much appreciate your patience.”
