Inouye Pushes Back Against Djou Ad

Charles Djou is out with a new commercial this week starring a woman who says the rest of Hawaii’s congressional delegation was unresponsive to her veteran husband’s needs and only Djou helped.

The spot quickly drew a response from the state’s sitting senators.

Djou shared it with supporters Sunday, touted a Pacific Business News website poll showing him with a 61-33 lead over Colleen Hanabusa, and then asked for money.

Peter Boylan, a spokesman for Inouye, said in an email that the ad is “inaccurate.”

“Senator Inouye and Senator Akaka received the same request for assistance and worked to meet the constituent’s needs,” he said.
