Kauai Vets Cemetery To Get $1.2M for Expansion

The Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe will receive $1.2 million for expansion and refurbishment, according to Hawaii’s congressional delegation.

From a press release:

The funds come from a grant administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  The money for Hawaii is part of more than $47 million that was distributed to 15 states.

The Kauai Veterans Cemetery currently sits on 5.44-acres of state owned land in Hanapepe. The expansion project will add six acres and 4,500 gravesites to the cemetery in three phases.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki was born on Kauai.
