Repeal Health Care? Hirono, Hanabusa Vote ‘No’

The GOP-dominated U.S. House of Representatives voted 244-185 to repeal the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature legislation that was ruled constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court June 28.

Hawaii’s Mazie Hirono and Colleen Hanabusa were among those voting against the repeal. The measure is not expected to pass the Senate.

Here’s an excerpt from this report in The Hill:

Most Democrats tried to cast the two-day debate as a waste of time that could have been better used passing legislation that creates jobs, and as a futile attempt to respond to the Court’s ruling. …

Many Democrats noted that the Republican House already approved a repeal bill at the beginning of the Congress, and has voted more than 30 times now to repeal either all or part of the law.
