State Department: ‘Constructive’ Asia-Pacific Talks

The U.S. State Department reported “constructive discussions” between China and the United States on Monday about developments in the Asia-Pacific.

Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell hosted Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai for talks on how to “build a cooperative partnership” between China and the U.S., according to the State Department.

Discussion also focused on China’s role in world affairs, as well as “pressing issues” in the region related to North Korea and Burma.
