Chamber Went Positive in Lingle Ad

The statewide “television ad blitz” that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is launching in support of Gov. Linda Lingle on Thursday features an ad with positive overtones. The music is upbeat, and the message is that Lingle can help Hawaii’s tourism industry thrive.

But the Chamber could have opted to take a negative approach.

In Wisconsin — where, as in Hawaii, a competitive Senate race could help Republicans regain control of the U.S. Senate — the U.S. Chamber of Commerce aired an ad attacking Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin.

The Chamber has also gone after Senate candidates like Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine and Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown. Here’s a screenshot from the anti-Brown ad, to give you a sense of how the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is trying to reach voters.
